Hello, I'm Clara

I am a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Berlin, Germany.

Some years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Began

Moving to Germany wasn't in our long-term plan. As with many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.

The initial months were demanding — adjusting to unfamiliar systems, new routines, and raised expectations. Daily tasks felt more complex than they needed to be.

The Transition Phase

There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the fly. Yet, gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.

Why I Built AcrossBorders Family

Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was missing was a truthful, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to bridge that gap with practical advice drawn from real life in Germany.

What This Site Is (And Isn't)

This site is:

  • Hands-on experience from living in Germany
  • Centered on family life and daily realities
  • Updated whenever something truly changes

This site isn't:

  • An official tourism resource
  • Sponsored review site
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Germany goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we learn.

If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Clara
